1. Welcome

Hello and welcome to Around Her Tables finance series. AKA my personal journey to get my financial life in order with all of you to watch #yay. The past eight months of my life have been a bit of a whirlwind. I would have never expected to be where I am right now a year ago, but I am, that’s life, and I’m here for it. With that said I would have never expected to be where I am today financially,  #hellabroke. Although, as I’ve been looking through all my bank statements, spending habits, blah blah blah, it was really only a matter of time before everything hit the fan. In reality, I know my situation pales in comparison to others, but comparing your bad habits to someone else’s ‘worse’ habit doesn’t excuse yours. It’s still a bad habit.

Thus, this finance series was born. I have several reasons for wanting to share my long journey ahead, but I’ll give you just a few.

·         You guessed it, accountability. I’m one of those people who if I say I’m going to do something then I.am.going.to.do.it. Period. However, I think I can get this done a lot faster if I know I have people to answer to.

·         Shared ideas. I’m no financial guru because if I were, well l would be on the other side of this coin. I am simply going to do what I know I should have been doing from the start. I also want to hear other people’s methods, tips & tricks, for saving and earning. I am certain I’ll hear a lot of interesting things, but as I cast a wide net I’ll be sure to filter what works for me and my life. You do the same.

·         It’s not taboo. Talking about money, or the lack of it, is embarrassing. Though, as I talk with my close friends it seems that we are all in similar situations. It’s hard trying to be a baller on a budget. It is also annoying being the one who is ordering water because you have to wait to eat ramen when you get back home while your friends are eating sushi. (I was definitely the sushi friend, okay. Ramen will kill you). I feel like the reason so many of us are not where we want to be financially, or just SUCK at really knowing how to mange and grow our money, is because we don’t talk about it. So, I’m going to show you my financial life and the changes I make to it. Yup, you’re about to be #allupinmybuisness

·         It is possible. At times if feels like all I do is wake up, work, pay bills, sleep, repeat. I was not put on this earth to work 40+ hours, pay bills, and dream of a life that could be. Nah, no thank you. Though at times it will seem like the cycle won’t end I know if I sacrifice a few things today, I won’t be in the hole tomorrow.

As we go through this you can either watch, or make the changes with me. We all have a lifestyle that we want to live, and no matter the lifestyle they all take money.  The sooner we start the better, because I know that I can be bougie. I need to be able to pay for bougie with cash and not credit! Let’s begin.

Can I just say I desperately wish I knew how to change this video thumbnail, but here we are -_-
